MOTORISTS IN TROUBLE.
PORTION OF ROAD FLOODED. A FARMER TO THE RESCUE. A farmer in tho Maungatawhiri Valley was having a busy time at about 5 p.m. last night towing motor-cars over a flooded portion of tho main PaeroaPokeno Road. Owing to heavy rains on tho hills the river had risen very rapidly and overflowed _ its banks,. with tho result that motorists who had passed over a dry road in tho morning had great difficulty in negotiating ' half-a-milo of flooded road, the water in some parts being about 18in. deep.
