A LUMP OF COAL.
THEFT CHARGE DISMISSED. A railwayman of 23 years' service and ail unblemished character was charged at Highgate recently with, stealing fourpence worth of coal from the London and North Eastern Railway Company. It was stated that he picked up the coal as ho wiis walking along the track. Mr. Frampton,. for tho railwaynien's union, protested against the action of the railway police in ■ searching the man's house * without a search warrant. The magistrate stopped tho case and discharged tho railwayman.
