Frater Brothers, has retired from i an active interest in the business. His son, Mr. James Frater, was elected a member of the Exchange in his father's stead on Friday. Mr. John Frater, the eldest son, is vice-chairman of the Exchange. . „ On the motion of the chairman, Mr. U. Creagh, Seconded by Mr. A. J. Tapper, it was decided to send a letter of appreciation to the retiring member. Regret was expressed by Mr. i. J. Whittaker that advancing years had compelled Mr. Frater, who had been connected with the Exchange since itg inception, to retire. Members hoped that in his remaining years, after such a long and honourable business career, he wonld be blessed with health and happiness. They had consolation that his seat would be held by a son, who they believed would worthily uphold tho tradition of his father. Several other members, including Mr.i F. Hull, spoko in support of Mr. Whiita- j ker's remarks.
