AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. Business was brisk on the Auckland sbaremarket yesterday. Inquiry for Government securities was sustained, but sellers quoted for only four issues. Inscribed Stock, 1938, bad sale at £B7, more being available at that figure, buyers £96 12s 6d. Buyers of Soldiers' Loan improved offers from £IOO §s to £IOO 10s, sellers moving to meet them from £lOl 5s to £lOl. Soldiers' Inscribed were unchanged at £IOO 10s and £lOl. In commercial debentures New Zealand Breweries were done at 225, at which figure more were available, buyers 21s lOd. In banks New Zealands were quoted for the first time ex rights at 535. and had sale at that price, the market closing at 52s 9d anti 535. Eights changed hands at 31s 6d, more being wanted at that figure, sellers hardening 6d to 325._ Australasias sold at £l4 23 6d, late inquiry being at £l3 19s, seders £l4 ss. Union sellers were disclosed at £l4 ss, buyers £l4. In insurance Nationals were done at 72s 9d, the market closing at 72s and 73s 6d. New Zealands (ex div.) were available at 31s 6d and later at 31s | 3d, buyers steady at 30s 6d. A transaction in South British at 47s 6d was re- ; corded, more being inquired for at 46s 9d, sellers 48s. In coal West ports were done at 32s 6d, late sellers quoting 33s ; without response. In gas Aucklands had sale at 24s lOd, the previous day's selling quotation, at which price more were wanted, sellers 255. In shipping HuddartParkers changed hands at 45s 9d, the market closing at 45s 3d and 465. In timber Nationals sold at 23s lid, more being available at that figure, buyers 23s 9d. In miscellaneous Mosgiel Woollens were done at £6, at which price there was late inquiry, no sellers quoting. Burns, Philp had sale at 375, late sellers 37s 6d, buyers 36s 3d. Buyers of Colonial Sugars advanced £1 to £4B without response. New Zealand Farmers' Fertilisers changed hands at 955, there being late offers at 925. A transaction iu Sanfords was recorded at ISs, the market closing at 18s and 20s. In mining holders of Kawaraus abated 6d to 27a without attracting buyers. Waihis were unchanged at 25s 6d and 265.
