DISASTER AT VANCOUVER.
MANY (JAILORS DROWNED. GALE OVERTURNS BOAT, MEN FROM JAPAN'S FLEET. By Telegraph—-Press Association —Copyrißht. (Received 7.15 p.m.) Sun. VANCOUVER. Feb. 8. The visit of the Japanese fleet, was marred by a serious accident. Several hundred men from the cruiser Asama were returning to the ship at one o'clock this morning when a squall swept the Vancouver Harbour. One of the large liberty boats, containing 140 men, overturned. Other boats hurried up in the darkness in answer to the cries of the drowning men. The latest reports show that 17 sailors, were drowned.
