NEW YORK TO SYDNEY.
SUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENTS. MOPES OF COMMERCIAL USE. By Telegraph—Prass Association—Copyright. (Received 0.35 p.m.) A. and N.Z. NEW YORK. Jan. 27. The Westinghouse Electric Company announces that matter which was broadcasted by wireless from its station, KDKA, Pittsburgh, was successfully received by amateurs in Australia. A speech by Mr. J. A. M. Elder, Australian Commissioner to the United 'States, was. broadcasted this week in the hope of it reaching Melbourne or Svdnev. The company lias received cablegrams from Sydney notifying the clear reception of the speech. This has encouraged it to continue its experiments, and a piano recital is to be broadcasted to-morrow. Addresses by prominent officials will follow. The company expresses its confidence that these experiments will probably open the way . to commercial wireless communication between the United States and Australia.
