IMPERIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

OUTCOME OF EXHIBITION. FELLOWSHIP ORGANISATION. (Received 5.5 p.m.) Renter. LONDON. Jan. 27. The sudden indisposition of the Duko o! Devonshire prevented him from presiding at the luncheon which he tendered to-day to the members of the Central Committee of Fellowship of the Empire Exhibition. Lord Denbigh, who presided in the Duke's stead, said that, although the fellowship had not obtained the membership which was expected last year it had established itself everywhere. The Dominions' branches had a membership of 28,000 at the close of the exhibition. The committee, by careful administration. had reserved 20 per cent, of the subscriptions for the foundation of Imperial scholarships instead of 10 per cent, as had been contemplated. It was now negotiating to secure grants to aid in reinforcing the scholarships. Lord Denbigh said he hoped the fellowship would eventually give good starts in life to at least 200 young citizens of the Empire.
