PONSONBY CRUISING CLUB. FOUR GENERAL HANDICAPS. BIG RACE WON BY FOREST GOLD. , The Ponsonby Cruising Club held four general handicaps on Saturday afternoon, three for yachts, and one for launches. The larger boats (20ft. and upwards) and launches raced to Arkle's Bay and the smaller classes tried conclusions over a harbour course. When the cruising race was started a hard south-south-west wind was blowing, but as the day wore ou the conditions became more favourable. Of the 30 boats that had entered for the big event, 20 faced the starter, \ who sent them away to a good despatch at 2.40 p.m., Ngaru 11. leading the way over the line, closely followed by Forest Gold, Starlight, Lovelight,_ Maybelle. Heartsease, Awatere, and Wairiki, with the rest handy, except Cynthia Kokiri, Rotui, and Esma, which were all late. Heartsease soon overhauled the leaders, while Rangi ran into secocd place before they had gone very far. The boats tailed out on the broad lead down the harbour, tho order passing Calliope Dock being: Heartsease, Ladye Wilrna, -Rangi, Starlight, Maybelle, Wairiki Forest Gold, Awatere, Queenie. Rahoa, Winifred, Ngaru 11., Waitere 11., Dooreen. Lovelight, Ngahau Cynthia. Kohiri, Rotui, Esma. and Waiapu. On rounding North Head leaders wero carried by most of the boats, while several sot spinnakers well forward. Heartseasi) maintained her lead, followed by Ladye Wilma and Rangi. THE LAUNCH EVENT. Tho competitors in the race for launches were: Kathryn &., All Bell. Kirita, Kowhai, Alpha Lass, and Manurere. All Bell soon went into the lead, and was the first boat to finish. The finishing times were: All Bell (scr), 4h 13m 21s; Kathryn R. (24m), 4h 23m 19s; Alpha Lass (37in), 4h 83m 14s; Kirita (37m), 4h 34m 30s; Kowhai (70m), 4h 50m 40s; Manurere (81.m), 6h 24m 355. Result: Kowhai, 1; Alpha Lass, ifi; Kirita, 3.

THE HARBOUR EACES. The general handicap for classes M, V, and S brought out Namu, Surprise, Sea Sleigh. Aratu, Millicent. and Maroro„ From a good start Aratu took the lead early in the race and maintained it until the completion of the first round, when she was passed by Maroro, which, meantime, shook out to whole sail. The finishing times were: Maroro (scr), 4h 22m 58s; Aratu (sm), 4h 28m 9s: Namu (sm). 4h 29m 85s; Surprise (2m), 4h 29m 445; Millicent (sim). 4h 33m 12s; Sea Sleigh (9m), 4h 44m 325. Aratu reported that she had fouled the top mark, which put her out of the race. Result: Maroro, 1; Namu, 2; Millicent, 3. In the race for classes T, X and Y the competitors wore: Dulcie, Marie, Sea Nymph. Viper, Ola 11., and Helen lean. Marie took the lead at the first mark, and wan never headed always being well out in front. The finishing times were: Marie (4m). ih 38m 575; Dulcie (sm), 4h 49m 15s; Viper (6}m),.4h 54m 40s. Boss; judge, Mr. W. Beid. In the evening a social and dance was held at Kia Ora House, and was largely attended. TAKAPUNA BOATING CLUB. RACE FOE OPEN BOATS. The Takapuna Boating Club held two races on Saturday afternoon, one for allcomers and Ihe other for class Z. Both races started and finished off the clubhouse at Bayswater. In the open class, which started at Q. 25 p.m., Muru was first away, closely followed by Playmate, Sea Crest and Sea Dawn. ?ixie being 8m late. On completion of the rst round the times were :•—Mum, 'Bh 2m 40s; Sea Dawn. 8h 9m~35a.;. Pixie. 8h 10m HOs; Playmate. 3h 18m; Sea Cr«s'>. 8h 18m 15s. Sea Crest replaced Playmate on the second round, the finishing times being:— Muru (sor). 8h 82m 20a; Sea Dawn (4rn). 3h 45m 85s; Pisie (4m). Sh 48m 15s: Sea Crest (4m), 3b 50m 495; Playmate (Um). 3h 50m 40s. Result: Muru. 1 : Playmate. 2; Sea Dawn, 8, The competitors in class Z were;—Sj>ort, Lai Lai. Tio and Myrth. All had one reef down and shortly after the start Myrth broke her gaS and retired. The finishing times were:—Lai Lai, 4h 2m 14s. 1: Tio 4h 4m 17s, 2; Bport, 4h 5m Is. Two races "wero decided by the Point Chevalier Sailing Club over the week-end. Tho first race brought out' Millicent, Gloria, Sea Sloigh. Cammie, and Miro. Millicent dot the- nest. of the start and led throughout. Gloria held second position until the completion of the first round, when she was replaced by Sea Sleigh, The finishing times were: Millicent (scr), 3h 40m 255; Sea Sleigh- (2ra). 3h 44m 20s. Gloria (scr), 3h 45m ss; Commune (6m), 8h 51m 455. Result: Millicent, 1; Sea Sleigh, 2; Gloria, 8. Six boats started in the second race. Marie, was soon in the lead, and was never headed. The finishing tjmes were; Marie (scr), 3h 65m 355; Sea Bover (2m), 4h 0m 10s; Split Wave (9m). 4h 8m 20s; Sea King (6m). 4h 9m 20s. Result: Marie, 1; Split Wave, 2: Sea Rover, 3. \ The raoe for sea scouts, which was ordered to be re-rbwed on the club's regatta .day, was decided, on Saturday afternoon. Entries were received from the Calliope Vindictive, and Fame troops. AH got away .together, the race resulting in a win for Fame by-31 lengths from Calliope, which just beat Vindiotive- for second place. A demonstration of, life-saving bv the Rocket Life Line Service was «iven by the Calliope Scouts. The 60yds championship swimming race for Sea Scouts was won by Scout Cameron (Calliopofc with .Scout Gardiner (Calliope) second. , MANUKAU COMPETITIONS.
