TAURANGA POWER STATION.

CONTRACT WITH GOVERNMENT LINKING UP WITH HORAHORA. [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA. Friday. At the Borough Council meeting last evening the engineer, Mr. L. Mandeno, reported receipt of a telegram from tho chief electrical engineer advising that authority had been obtained for completion of the contract for the supply of electric power by the council to the Public Works Department, through Katikati and Waikino to Auckland. This contract contemplated the installation of another generator at McLaren's Falls and tho erection of a transmission line through Katikati to junction with the Horahora system at Waikino. Tho council undertakes to supply 2000 kilowatts to the department until the completion of'the Arapuni schemo. The line to Katikati will also supply current for Sir W. G. Armstrong Whitworth and Company's crushers at Aongateto as soon as the power is available from McLaren's Falls. The council gave authority for the purchase of the material necessary for the completion of this transmission line on receipt from tho department of a satisfactory reply regarding a small feature of the contract.
