NONAGENARIAN'S DEATH.
MRS. MARTHA GREGORY.
Tho death has occurred at Papatoetoa of Mrs. Martha Gregory, widow of the Into Captain John Gregory, in her 97th year. Mrs. Gregory, who was born at Bristol, England, in 1828, was tho last survivor of .1 family of 11 children, and was head of four generations. At the age of 20 sho went to Brisbane, and was married there. Her husband, Captain Gregory, was very well known as a master of sailing ships in tho intercolonial trade. Mrs. Gregory frequently accompanied him on his trips. Captain Gregory retired from sea life when 60 years of age, and lie and Mrs. Gregory resided for some time in Auckland and suburbs. Since her husband's death, 26 years ago, Mrs. Gregory has resided with a friend, Miss Lena Hunnisett, They moved to Papatoetoe a little over a year ago. .Mr. \\. Gregory, of Christchurch, is a son.
