THE EDUCATION BOARD.
TRAINING COLLEGE PUPILS.
LIMITATION SUGGESTED.
The Auckland Education Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. A. Burns, presiding.
A communication from the Education Department intimated that no general approval could bo given for the supply of free books to children from orphanages. If, however, tho orphanage authorities could satisfy the head teacher that the circumstances of tho parents were such that they were unable to provide for maintenance, the board could supply the books.
A recommendation that the number of students attending the training colleges next year should tie limited was forwarded bv the Education Department. The department desired that tho number should not be greater than last year, while in many respects it was desirable that a reduction should be made
