BUTTER MARKET FIRM.
FOG SHORTENS THE SUPPLY.

The butter market is temporarily firm owing to the fog preventing the discharge of several steamers which recently arrived. As a consequence there is good demand for the small quantity available. New Zealand choicest is quoted at 2045, and unsalted at 208s. Australian is quoted at 186s to 188s: unsalted, 190s to 1925. Danish at 245s is firm on Continentsil buying for Christmas.
Cheese is firm. Now Zealand is quoted at 945.
Last week's report stated: —The butter market, is quiet. N.-w Zealand choicest is quoted at 202s to 2 , and exceptionally choice at 210s. Australian sold at 190s to 192s»nnsalted at 192s to 1945. Danish sold at 2385, and is hardening. Cheese is slow. New Zealand is quoted at 925, and Australian at 86s to 88s.
Messrs. A. J. Mills and Co., Ltd., has received the following cablegram from Tendon dated December 11:—The butter market is steady. New Zealand first grade salted 202s to 2065; unsalted. 212s to 2145. The cheese market is steady. Now Zealand fust, grade white 945, coloured 925.
