DRAINAGE AT AVONDALE.
COST OF RETICULATION.
Two loan proposals will be submitted to Avondalo ratepayers to-day, one being a proposal to borrow £15,000 for drainage reticulation, including £1500 to assist ratepayers in installing drainage. The other is a proposal to borrow £750 to purchase a motor fire engine. A poll for drainage reticulation was taken four years ago, and sanctioned by the ratepayers, who at the same rejected a proposal for a main sewer. Consequently the reticulation poll was of no use. Since that date Avondale has grown in certain parts of the district, and the boundary of tho special drainage area has been altered somewhat. It accordingly has been decided to take- a fresh poll.
