Two qualifying rounds for the Auckland Golf Club championship were played at Middlemoro on- Saturday, 66 players competing. Considering the excellent order of the course and the ideal weather, the scores were very disappointing. The new fifth green and the majority of the new tees were lined for the first time, and that was the only excuse offered to account for the lar.t that no player broke 80. R. O. Gardner returned the best gross score vwfch rounds of 82 and 80, and he thus becomes • the holder of the J. C. Bonis Memorial Cup. The trophy for the best net score was won by Dr. W. N. Abbott, 170 — 24, 152. The next two were: R, O. Gardner. 162 —6, 156; and C. H. Archer, 176—20, 156. Sixteen players qualified in the following order for the championship:—R. O. Browning, 90, 90, 180; Dr. J. F. Brown, 80, 93, 183. The following is the draw for ;the first round of the match play which follows for the olub championship competition next Saturday Gardner v. Brown; Tidmarsh v. Archer; Ralph v, Upton; MacCormick v. Horton; Clark v. Abbott; Lusk v. Binney; Brander v. Colbeck; Wright v. Browning. The captain's tourney was advanced by one match during the week, when P. T. upton beat A. McCosh 3 and 2. Upton how meets A. E. M. Rhmd, and the winner meets W. Geddes in the final. Junior members are reminded that entries for the junior championship and nursery handicap close with the secretary at noon on Thursday. MAUNGAKIEKIE V. PUPUKE. The inter-club match played on handicaps between the Maungakiekie and Pupuke Golf Clubß, on the Titirangi links on Saturday,: was won by Maungakiekie by seven games to orie, two games being all square. The results are as follows, Maungakiekie players being mentioned first in each case:— S. Dunbar and J. Hunter, all square; H. A. Joyce beat F, H. Mingay, 5 and 3; W. E. Bush lost to S. Hunter, 2 and 1; R. McCrys.tal beat A. W. Clark. 9 and 7; G. N. Morris beat A. Reeve. 8 and 2; H. M. Shrofi! and F. C. Buddie, all square; W. J. Nolan beat L. A. Longuet, 6 and 5; C., P. Crowther beat M. E. Thompson, 3 and 2; N. Moßobie beat M. H. Spiller, 7 and 6; R. M. Tolhurst beat A. Warbrick, 8 and 1. '' MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB. Bopiey handicaps were played by the Mau nsrakiekie Golf Club at the Maungakiekie and Titirangi links on Saturday. At the former links, a tie resulted. between E. A. Tuke (14) and P Wiseman (12), who Were both 1 down. The other best cards were:—G. L, Taylor (12), 8 down; J. W. Carr (18), 3 down: A. W. Short (10), 4 down. At Titirangi. the winner was H. A. Rand' rup (7), who was 1 up. Other good cards were: R. McCrystal (10), 1 down; E. L, Bartleet (6), 2 down; C. J. MaoCullooh (14) S down; A. C. Anderson (4). 8 down. The tie . for the Rendell Vaae was played of! between E. L. Bartleet and J. B. Bradley at Titirangi. The game was won by Bartleet by three Btrokes, the Bcorea being Bartleet 88—9, 79; Bradley, 107—25, 82.
MAUNGAKIEKIE LADIES' CLUB. The handicap meda.l match placed by jnomo&rs of the Maungakiekie Ladies' Golf Club on the Titirangi links on Friday, was iron by Miss Harvey. The play-off for the L.G-.U; medal between Mrs. Deighton and Mrs. Banister was won by Mre. Deighton. The C grade match was won by Miss Lawrence.
