VETERAN SPORTSMAN.
MR. T. A. BROWN'S, RECORD.
An interesting ceremony took place at a dance held by the Otahuhn Bowling Club last weak, when Mr. T. A. Brown was the recipient of a framed life member's certificate, he having been a foundation member of the club, which was formed in 1906. Mr. Brown, who " has turned the 36th year, was for XI years manager for Sir John Logan Campbell at One Tree Hill. He was one of the founders of the Pakuranga Hunt Club and was huntsman for nearly 12 years. He was clerk of the course at fche* Auckland Racing Club for many years, holding that position when the Duke of Edinburgh visited Auckland, and by special request again acted in th&t capacity when . the present Prince of Wales visited here.. Mr. Brown, who has resided in Otahulm since 1859, was present at the opening o£ the Public Hall, when the Imperial troops were stationed at Otahuhu during the Maori War. Mr. Brown taken a keen interest in local affairs and various sports. Despite his great age he is wonderfully hale and hearty, proof of his vitality being afforded by the fact that he remained at. the bowling dulfs dance till this early hours of the morning, after many of the younger people had left.
