MASTERTON MYSTERY.
BURGLARIES AND FIRES.
UNEASINESS IN THE TOWN
Masterton has been suffering from an epidemic of burglaries and fires, which are enshrouded in mystery. The fires have occurred in one block near the Post Office, and some of the shops have also been entered by burglars. A state of easiness exists in respect to : fire, for it is generally assumed that the fires are the work of an incendiary, and they have been occurring during the past 12 months or more, but have become more pronounced since Christmas. The burglaries total over a dozen. A mysterious burglary and another fire last week have added to the uneasiness.
