ARRANGEMENTS FOR DRAWS.

Ata. meeting \of the : council of the 'New;;' Zealand Golf Association to-day there was a full discussion .as to the arrangements : for bringing out 'two professionals from England for next; season. The chairman 1 and secretary will draft a letter setting out all the necessary details. Matters in : connection with the next championship meeting at Auckland were fully discussed. A decision, was arrived at • with ' regard to the method of the draw for the open • championship qualifying ? rounds, ; which is the ssune as was adopted last year, namely,, lowest handicap amateurs, equal in . number; to professionals playing in v the open championship will be drawn with professionals and started first. The, remaining amateurs up to and including national handicaps of 7 will then be drawn in another class and started next. ; Those with a national handicap of oyer seven will be drawn together and V - started after the previous classes have all got away. Each" class ■ will be drawn each day as jto partners in - order of starting. After the qualifying rounds for the amateur championship have been played 'an automatic draw will be adopted as previously. - The council was 'of a ; I unanimous opinion . that this system is ! the only fair one, with a view to finding the open and amateur champions for the year. ; It was pointed out that at the last annual general' meeting of the association during tournament week there was not; one complaint made with regard to the method of the draw.

,-i The council also came to a decision as to the amount of prizes which will be offered at the tournament for .the various events. In the open championship there will be gold, silver and bronze medals to the first, secpnd and third men, and the prizes will be £40, £15 and £10, with £5 for . the fourth, if won by a professional. ■ • ) In the professional championship, which is to be open only to members, of the New Zealand Professional Golf Association, the first prize . will be £50, . and the second £25. . The two players x who are put out ,in the . semi-finals will get £10 each. . There will be a gold and silver medal for the winner and runnerup. ■ ... ... . Id the professionals' handicap event (stroke play) the prizes will be £25, £15 and £10.

In addition the council will provide gold and silver medals .as well as trophies to- the winner and runner-up of tho amateur championship.
