CLOUDBURST AT OTIRA.
RAILWAY TRACK DAMAGED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRE3 .'ONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A cloudburst at Otira has caused damage to the railway track, and the engine shed's yard is under water. The position is made difficult by the fact that the railways maintenance men are among the strikers. WEST COAST ISOLATED; SEVERAL BLOCKS ON THE ROAD. [by telegraph.—PßESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHUHCH. Wednesday. The West Coast is completely isolated, the road between Arthur's Pass and Otira being blocked in several places. It will probably be blocked for two days. HOKITIKA RIVER FLOODED. Heavy rain yesterday afternoon and night brought down a very large flood in the river, 4£in. falling in 24 hours. The Westiand races have been postponed till Thursday. The weather is now clearing.
