ANZAC DAY SERVICES.

TOWN HALL COMMEMORATION WREATHS ON THE CENOTAPH PARADE OF EX-SOLDIERS. As in other years, - Anzac Day will be commemorated as a holy day, a day given over to a sacred purpose, not to be desecrated by idle , pleasure-taking or self-gratification. It will be observed to-morrow in all respects as a Sunday. Citizens will be asked to lay aside not only the ordinary business of life, but % its pleasures and social claims, giving their thoughts to the men who suffered and died for humanity's cause. The principal commemorative service of the day in Auckland will be held in the-Town Hall at eleven o'clock, at which the Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gunson, will preside. . Addresses will be given by Bishop Averill and by the Rev. D. C. Herron. A parade of soldiers will take pace from the Queen's Wharf to the Town Hall, while the King's Empire Veterans, veterans of the South African War, and members of the Ex-service Women's Association will also be on parade. The "fall in" will be sounded at 9.40 a.m. At the conclusion of the service the ceremony of laying the city's official wreaths on the cenotaph will be observed. Citizens are invited to place their floral tributes at the base of the cenotaph; all the wreaths will be taken later to Waikumete Cemetery, and placed on the memorial in the Soldiers' Cemetery, where a brief service will be held, and an address given by the Mayor. Members of the Victoria League will visit the cemetery, and lay on each soldier's grave wreaths of laurel and rosemary. Wreaths will also be placed by Miss O'Neill on the soldiers' graves in O'Neill's Point Cemetery, whera a service will be held by the Rev. Latimer at 2.45 p.m.

Commemorative services will be held in many of the churches to-morrow evening, and there will be a service at the Victoria Theatre, Devonport. Past and present students of the Auckland Training College will assemble at a memorial service to be held in the College Hall to-morrow morning. The , ordinary business of the city will be suspended, and all shops, betels and places of amusement will be closed. There will be no publication of newspapers. Combined services will be held in several suburban boroughs. That at Otahuhu takes place in the morning; that at Takapuna in the afternoon in connection with which the 3rd Auckland Mounted Rifles, Takapuna Machine-gun Section, Boy Scouts, Girl Guides and returned soldiers and sailors will parade at 2.30 o'clock at Hauraki Road, and that at Birkenhead in the evening. An Anzac commemoration ceremony I?as been arranged for 2 p.m. to-day at the Northcoto main school, where Mr. E. C. Cutt<yi, S.M., will address the scholars.
