HEME BAY TRAM SERVICE.
QUESTION OF THROUGH CARS.
The tramway service to Heme Bay was the subject of a report by the tramways manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, to the City Council last evening, in reply to an inquiry from Mr. M. J. Bennett as to why all> cars on this route did not run to the terminus. The manager stated that since December 17 a five-minute through service, with extra cars during the rush period from 5-p.m. to 6 p.m., had been run from the terminus, with a Ihreeminute service to Ponsonby depot. The service compared favourably with the services provided on other routes, but when the duplication of the track to Heme Bay was carried cat, additional cars would bo run to the terminus.
