DECREASE IN DEATHS.
FIGURES FOR FEBRUARY.
WELLINGTON, Thursday.
The total births registered during February for 'the urban areas of New Zealand amounted to 1100, as against 1102 in January. The deaths in February were 378, a decrease of 59, as compared with the previous month.
Of the total deaths, males contributed 203 and females 175. Forty-five of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 11.90 per cent, of the whole number. Thirty-four of these were under one year of age:
