MASTER MARINER DROWNED
FALL FROM FISHING BOAT.
A drowning accident occurred about six miles off Takatu Point, near Kawau, on a recent evening. The fishing boat Sunlight, run by- two hands, was; sailing with a light breeze, when ■one of the men, named John McDonald Paterson, went forward to adjust some of the gear. In some unknown manner he fell overboard, and by the time his mate could bring the boat round and back to the spot no sound or trace of the man could be seen. • Paterson was a master mariner, running the boat on shares, and as far as is known had no relatives in New Zealand. No trace of the body has been found. •
