MURIWAI MOTOR RACES.
TO-MORROW'S ARRANGEMENTS
WEATHER THE GREAT FACTOR.
The annual motor-car race 3of the Auckland Automobile Association will be held on Muriwai Beach to-morrow. Eight events are included on the programme, which is timed to commence at 1.30 p.m. There are record entries, and large fields are anticipated. It is stated that some of the contesting cars have already done over 100 miles an hour in trials, and a spectacular day's sport can confidently be anticipated. The following are the officials for the meeting:—Judge, Mr. Geo, Henning; starter, Mr. J. A. Gillett; timekeeper, Mr. H. B. Coltman; clerk of the course, Mr. T. G. Julian; inspector of cars, Mr. L. B. Spinks; parking steward, Mr. P. R. Skeates. The chairman of the Sports Committee of the ; Auckland Automobile Association is Mr. H.C. Jones, who is directing the arrangements for the meeting. Mr. T. M. V. Norton is hon. secretary of the Sports Committee. : ;-\ At a meeting of .the Sports Committee of the association last evening it was announced that all arrangements in connection with the meeting were practically completed. Handicappers this year are allowed to re-handicap up to the, "time of starting, and 'for that. reason .some very close finishes might be expected. i A report on the state Of the road to Muriwai late this evening will be published in the Herald to-morrow. In the event of wet weather a decision whether the races will be held will be made by the committee on the beach in the morning. - It will be telephoned to the secretary Of the Automobile Association, and will be announced on the Hxhald notice board as soon as possible after. 9 a.m. The Waitemata County; Council announces that the road between Hen Avrson and Swanson will be closed for repairs to Bridges from noon to-day until noon or* Monday, 4 All cars proceeding to Muriwai will, therefore, have to travel via e JLincoin Road.
