AUCKLAND WOOL SALE.
THIRD OF THE SERIES
FIXTURE TO BE HELD TO-DAY
GOOD PRICES ANTICIPATED.
ABOUT 4000 BALES CATALOGUED.
The third wool sale of the season in Auckland will be held in the Town Hall concert chamber to-day, when a catalogue of about 4000 bales will be offered. The sale was originally fixed for to-morrow, but as the buyers are anxious to leave by the Main Trunk express this evening to prepare for the Napier sale on Tuesday; the Auckland fixture was moved forward a day. The wool that has come to hand ior the sale is of average quality, thougn there is a fair percentage of oddments and back-country wool. The bench of buyers will include representatives from practically all wool manufacturing countries. Competition is expected to bo keen, and good prices should be realised. There has been progressive improvement in wool values from the beginning of the season. The prices realised at the Wanganui sale on Wednesday showed an all-round advance of to Id on the previous sale prices, particularly in lowgrade wools. A hardening in the wool market is also reported from London. At the opening of the sales on Tuesday crossbreds and all second wools met with excited competition, and showed an* advance of from 10 to 15 per cent. Excellent prices have been received at the two previous sales in Auckland this season compared with those of other centres, and judging from the buoyant tone of the world markets growers are encouraged to hope for a further improvement in prices to-day.
