INJURY TO A HORSE.
THE TANEATUA CASE. ACCUSED FOUND GUILTY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PBESS ASSOCIATION. ' GISBORNE. Wednesday. At the. Supreme Court to-day William Henry Wright . was charged with wilfully j committing mischief to a mare at Tanea- j tua, Bay of Plenty. The evidence showed that one horse had ! been found dead after terrible 'agony,, j and that another was badly injured in* ternally. Accused had been arrested, for theft, and when his bedroom was searched! the police found a bottle of corrosive sub- J limate tablets, a bottle of oil of rhodium, j bluestone, tins of toxa poison, five plugs j of gelignite, and automatic firearms and ammunition. Evidence was given that the animal's death was due to a powerful irritant. The use of oil of rhodium, experts explained, would ; entice strange animal?., A verdict of guilty was returned. Sentence was deferred.
