MINING NEWS.
BLACKWATER MINES, LTD. The latest return of the Blackwater Mines, Ltd., Reefton, yielded 10650z. of gold, valued at £5010, from 2380 tons of ore. The report for the quarter ended December 31, stated that both development and stoping operations had been retarded owing to the shortage of labour. The position appeared to be becoming more acute. During the quarter. 9176 tons of ore were crushed, yielding bullion to the value of £18,561. The net profit for the period was £3502, to which has to be added £1700, premium on gold under-estimated during the year.' MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Moanataiari.— rino has been advanced 9ft., making the total from the floor 200 ft. The reef in the face is wider than the rise and has a kindly appearance. Progress has been slow on account of the hard nature of tho quartz.
