WIRE CONTACT DANGERS.

Ihe Auckland Electric Power Board mot yesterday, Mr/ S. J. Harbutt presiding. Others present were Messrs. M. J.* Bennett, T. Bloodworth, R. >G. Clark, S. I. Crookes, J. Dempsey,' HI T. Goldie, L. Joll, J. Park and E. H. Potter. ' The Auckland Fire . Board, in a letter, indicated the . daager from contact between the Power board's overhead power wires and the Firo Board's alarm wires. It was requested that all power wires bo kept well above other -wires with sufficient clearance tc allow for sagging. The matter was referred to tho Works Com-

A resolution was passed authorising the levying of a special rate of oneeighth of a penny in the pound on all ratable property throughout the board's district tor the purpose of providing for interest -and other charges incidental to the loan of £250,000, tho balance of the purchase price of the undertaking from the. City Council. The manager and' engineer, Mr. A. Wyllie, reported that in order to carry out considerable distribution alterations at the Newmarket sub-station for . the supplv cables for Onehunga and Ellerslie it" would be necessary to shut down on ono or two Sundays during the day. That would only affect the alternating current supply in Remuera, Epsom, and Mount Eden. The first shut-down would probably take place next Sunday week, if they were ready, and would be advertised. ,/ „. ..
