Seismographs' along the Pacific Coast have recorded the heaviest' earthquake ever known. The disturbance lasted six hours. " . During the night the San Francisco radio station learned from Japan that there been a tremendous upheaval there—all land telegraphs, were down and railroads disrupted. Messages between Tamioka radio -station arid, inland .points were being handled by couriers. The last message received stated that there were numerous fires in all parts of Yokohama,.
