OUTBREAKS OF FIRE.

The building comprised a store and dwelling combined, occupied by Mr. H. Worboys, the post office being under the same roof. The owner was away from; home at the time of the outbreak, no one being on the premises. * The cause of, the fire, is , not known." The store ; contained a large stock, and none of ; it was saved, while the . whole of ' the- post office was burned, including some mail matter. • There fs an insurance -of £300 on- the , building, .€3OO on the stock,; arid £100 on the furniture in the Standard Office. Wednesday. • - ' Shortly before 9 p.m. St. Peter's Anglican Church, Caversham, caught fire.' The vestry was past saving when the South Dunedin and : City fire brigades: arrived, so the firemen confined their attention to preventing the flames attacking the church proper, where the fire had commenced to take hold. K The fire was under control in 20 minutes ' and extinguished after half-an-hour's strenuous work.' : I The I" vestry ; was • gutted and I the contents, 5 valued at about £175, destroyed.
