OPOTIKI ISOLATION WARD.
SUCCESSFUL EFFORT. [Br TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] •■■■; ' OPOTTKI, Monday. • The final meeting of the Opotiki Isolation Ward Committee was held on Friday. Mr. J. H. Reid, county chairman, presided. The hon. secretary, Mr. -E. Lloyd Siddall, in his report, stated that an - effort was started in 1919 by a few people to provide an isolation ward for the Opotiki Hospital;, Various schemes were adopted to •. raise money, such ,as socials, dances, concerts, sports, exhibitions, and personal canvass. . The amount now, standing to" the committee's credit at the bank was £789, which, with the Government subsidy of 24s in the £. brought the total to £1727. The Bay of Plenty Hospital Board had been notified and had replied that steps would be taken to secure the subsidy and proceed with the building. It was decided to disband the committee,; and: to vest the money in two trustees, Messrs. J. T. Merry and E. L. Siddall. ■. . v",! ; ;
