ADVANCE IN AUSTRALIA. TWOPENCE A POUND. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CO-RESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. Australian advices show an advance of 2d per pound on packet.teas due to the greatly increased first cost of teas in India, Java, and Ceylon. There is no duty or differential duty on tea in Australia. : '
Whereas the greater part of New Zealand imports of tea are from Ceylon Australia draws the greater part of its tea from the Dutch East Indies. New Zealand imports over 7,000,0001b., of a total of 8,500,0001b., from Ceylon.
