RED CROSS ACTIVITIES.

PAST YEAR'S FINANOES.

The joint committee of the Auckland centre of the British Red Cross and tho Order of St. John met yesterday, when the balance-sheet for the year ended March 31 was presented. The funds at the beginning of the period amounted to £41,761, and at the close of the year to £39,511. The expenditure was devoted largely to work among soldiers and children at Rotorua and to the cases at the shelters in the Domain. The Evelyn Firth Home had been conducted practically on the interest from a sum invested for that purpose. The expenditure at Rotorua amounted to £1462, about £400 less than in the previous year. The outlay at the Domain shelters was £981, or £150 less than in the previous year. The assets of the committee were valued at £51,552. It was decided that the committee meet quarterly in future, and that the Evelyn Firth Home Committee deal with the routine work in the interim.
