Bidding was very erratic, and prices were irregular. Wools suitable for America were neglected, but the Continent and Bradford were keen competitors for low and medium wools, for which prices advanced id to Jd. Pieces were in good demand, but there was very little competition from mills, with the result that prices were' somewhat easier. The condition of the wool was fairly heavy. ' The range of prices was as follows:— Fine halfbred, inferior, 15d to 15£ d; Southdown, 20d to 23id; medium halfbred, inferior, to 12d; coarser halfbred, inferior, to lOjd; fine crosbred. average, 13d to 13|d inferior, 9ld to lO&d; medium crossbred, average, lOd to 12£ d; average, 12£ d; inferior, to 10d; coarse crossbred, super, lOd to 12d; average, BAd to 10dj inferior, 7*d to BAd; low crossbred, average, 8d to 9±d; interior, 6Jd to 73d: hoggets, fine, 12Jd to l3Jd; medium, lljd to lOid; coarse, 9£d; lambs, down, 15id; fine, I3£d; medium, 9£d to 12d; seedy and inferior, 5d to 7d; bellies and pieces, crossbred, good to super.
