SYDNEY TOURNAMENT.
ALL WIN FIRST HEATS.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 20. The New Zealand lawn tennis players won their first heats in the City of Sydney tournament, France alone encountering serious opposition. The following are the results of their matches:— Wallace defeated Sims (Sydney), 6— 6-3. 6—l. Robson defeated Goodman, 6—3, 61, 6—4. Ollivier defeated Illingworth, 6—l, —1, 6—l. France defeated Pike, 4—6, 6— 6— 5—7, 10-8. Sim defeated North, 6—o, 6—o, 6—l. Robson defeated North, 6—2, 6—3, 2—6, 6—l. Ollivier defeated Jordan, 6—l, 6— 6-0. Pe ;ch defeated Wallace, 61, 6— 6-1. Peacock and Ollivier beat Bonninglon and Garrett, 6—o, 6—o, 6—3. Anderson and Peach defeated Wallace and Robson, 6—l, 6—3, 6—l. Ollivier and Miss Lloyd beat Breckenridge and Miss Breckenridge, —1, 6—o. Robson displayed excellent form, scoring mainly by hot driving. North, who beat Robson on Friday, was inclined to bo erratic.
