LABOUR AND PRESS.
FULL REPORTS DEMANDED. AN UNEXPECTED RESULT. LONDON, Feb. 22. An amusing comedy is entertaining the inhabitants of Mansfield. The Labour councillors, objecting to the abridged reports of their speeches in the local press, demanded either a verbatim report "without trimmings " or nothing at all. Tho reporters agreed, and the next speech published was ono by the DeputyJ.layor on the subject of Sabbath desecration. . , x It commenced: " I'm surprised at councillors ding-donging over this 'ere Sunday business." The remainder was weirdly involved, rumbling and ungranimatical; dropped aspirates and clipped g's being indicated. The townspeople are now awaiting the next move with keen interest.
