N.S.W. BEATS S. AUSTRALIA. NINE WICKETS IN HAND. Australinn and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 10.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 10. New South Wales defeated South Australia in the Sheffield Shield cricket match by nine wickets. South Australia, who in their first innings 'maide 198, scored 386 in their second innings yesterday (A: Richardson 155, Williams 53, Townsend 25, Rymill not out 50, Morton 22). Bowling for New South Wales, Mailey took six wcikets for 128, Andrews two for 41, Punch one for 22, and Hendry one for 50. New South Wales, who in their first innings made 486, had lost no wickets for 64 runs *in their second innings when stumps were drawn for the day. On resuming to-daiy New South Wales compiled the 35 runs required to win for win for the loss of one.wicketCollins 37, Bardsley 55 not out. The weather.-' was fine and the wicket in good condition. Collins and Bardsley. played merry cricket, and brought the- ' end in sight before the former was bowled by Whitty. Bardsley made tho • balance. With a view "to discovering much : wanted new bowling talent the New 1 South Waleu Cricket Association has decided to engage two professional bowlers I and to ask the junior union and country associations to nominate their best bowlers for practice purposes.
