M.C.C. V. FREE STATE. DEADLY BOWLING BY JUPP. A. and N.Z. CAPETOWN. Jan. 9. The Marylebone Cricket Club team met a Northern Free State fifteen, at Bethlehem. The Free State team in their first innings made 176: Smart 58, de Villiera 26. Jupp took six wickets for 30 runs and Mead two for 11. Marylebone in their first innings had lost two wickets for 135 runs when stumps were drawn: , Sandham 57, Street 23, and Russell, not '. out, 48. I The weather was fine and the wicket was good. Free State scored 136 for the loss of four wickets, and the other six , fell for an additional 34 runs, Jupp tak- . ing the last five wickets in six overs for 12 runs. The Free State bowling was weak and scoring was easy.
