LONDON, Jan. 9. - The Free Staters have captured Quaker Island, Lough" Rea, County Galway. Four" of the defenders were killed and the remainder taken prisoner. The capture was effected with armoured boats and aeroplanes, BRITISH LEAVE PETTIGO. REPLACED BY FREE STATERS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.20 p.m.) _ LONDON. Jan. 9. British troops which held the Donegal- , Fermanagh frontier have evacuated Pet- ' tigo and other border towns. They have been replaced by. Free State forces. I NEW IRISH PARTY FORMED. ! SUPPORT OF FREE STATE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.5 p.m.) LONDON. Jan. 9. A convention in Dublin formed a new political party .to support the present Government. The party will nominate candidates at the coming elections. Its aim is to secure unification of Ireland and a fusion of the parties which pre- , viously have been working in co-opera-tion.
