STOCKS AND SHARES.

The tone of the Auckland sharemarket remained unaltered yesterday, there being a sustained demand for investment stocks. In Government securities Soldiers' Loan, inscribed stock, sold at £100, late buyers offering £99 15s, sellers- £100. Inscribed stock, 1939, sold at £96 ss, further buyers offering £96 2s 6d, without response. War Loan, 1938, had buyers at £96 2s 6d, sellers quoting £96 15s. Business was done in Auckland Harbour Board 6 per cent, debentures at £105, other buyers offering £102 10s without response. In banks Nationals were inquired for at £6 2s, no sellers quoting. New Zealands, wanted at 56s 6&, had sellers at 57s 3d. In insurances there were buyers for New Zealands at 27s 3d, sellers 27s 8d; South British, buyers 34s 6d, sellers 365. In gas there was a sale of Aucklands at 245, other buyers offering 23s 9d, sellers 24s 6d. In miscellaneous lines Auckland Tramways (preference) sold at 18s 3d, the closing quotations being sellers 18s 9d, buyers 18s. Business was done in New Zealand Refrigerating (contributing) at 14s 6d, late buyerß offering 14s 4d, sellers 14s 9d. In mining a parcel of Waihis sold at 31s, other buyers offering 30s 6d, sellOi 31s 3d. Sales were made in Waii'J Grand Junctions at 103 2d and 10s I A, late buyers offering 10s 2d, sellers 10s 3d. There was a transaction >in Moanataiaris at 2s 10d, sellers' closing quotations being 3a 2d, buyers offering 2s 3d.
