DEATH FROM INJURIES.
ACCIDENT AT WESTFIELD. MR. J. P. GAVAN SUCCUMBS. Following upon injuries received through falling from a train at Westfield railway station on Friday, tho death occurred at the Auckland Hospital on, Saturday afternoon of Mr. John Peter Gavan, a retired baker aged 78 years, formerly resident at 10, Dryden Street, Grey Lynn. Mr. Gavan fell- between the train and station platform and was badly crushed, sustaining a fracture of the left leg and severe injuries to the chest.
