• ♦ IMPROVEMENT IN SOUTH. I The engineering trade in Christchurch is reported to be improving. The secretary of the Amalgamated Engineering Union reports that some large firms have 1 started, or are about to start, on full time. There is, however, a temporary slump as I regards work for electricians.) Two or J three weeks ago it was found necessary to communicate with Wellington and I Dunedin for electrical workers; at present there are several of these workers on the union's unemployment book.
