MR. H. SHAW'B GFFTS. ADDRESS IN APPRECIATION. The an illuminated addrens to Mr. H. Shaw, of Gliye, HaVke's Bay, in recognition .of his gifts and personal services to the Auckland Publio Library, which is to be forwarded to him this weekj has.elicited a letter of thanks and appreciation from the recipient. Mr. Shaw, writing to Miss & Melville, chairman of the Auckland City Council Library Committee, expresses bis fielight at the scheme of decoration,* on the address, which he says is so. New, Zealand in character and that no other form of decoration could have given 1 him so much pleasure. He also statod that he felt it a proud distinction to be the recipient of so splendid a memento of Auckland's goodwill, and he would alwaya treasure it as a possession beyond price. , ' Mr. Shaw stated that he was working upon a collection of topographical views for the library and hoped to obtain 10.000 views. He is also engaged upon the. preparation of a super-illustrated copy of Burns' works, to range with the illustrated copy of Shakespeare, in 40 volumes, now ?n the library. ' ——
