The latest victims of the working qf the restriction of immigration Jaw arts Australians. Mr. David Cooper, his wife, and a two-year-old daughter arrived from Britain more than a month ago. The authorities were willing to permit Mr. Cooper and his, daughter to land because they were born "in Britain, and the British quote; was, not exhausted, but Mrs. Cooper, befc&se she was born in Australia, was unable •to land. An appeal to Washington' was ineffective, and after waiting a mouth Mrs. Cooper returned to Europe, to come back to the United States in the next steamer in the hope that the Australian quota then will not be filled.
