N.S.W. LAND POLICY.
SUBDIVISION OF ESTATES. CABINET CALLS CONFERENCE A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, June 29. The Premier, tho Minister for Lands and Sir Joseph Carruthers conferred on the Government's policy of land development as it affects private estates with representatives of the Graziers, Shires, and Stock Owners' Assc-isations, the Million Farm Club, the Primary Producers' Union, the Chamber of Commerce and leading banks. Sir George Fuller, opening the conference, said it would not discuss whether private lands should be put to better use or whether Crown lands or private lands should be dealt with first. The alternatives were voluntary subdivision and compulsory subdivision. The Government would prefer to help the owners of land to subdivide rather than resort to compulsory measures, but the Cabinet would be firm as a rock in doing something to get men settled on the land. It would not allow semah private interests to stand in the way of the public good. The conference proceeded to discuss proposals in an endeavour to present a satisfactory scheme to the Government.
