KAITUNA RIVER OUTLET.
REOPENING TUMU OUT,
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE PUKE, Friday. Consent to reopen tho Tumu cut was received by the Kaituna River Board from the Minister for Public Works, Hon. J. G. Coates, at its ineeting to-day. Several Maketu ratepayers referred to the possible injury to their lands if tho river outlet was reopened at Tumu. The question of dealing with the Kaituna outlet was fully discussed, and it was decided that the board members, engineer, and ratepayers meet at Maketu on Thursday next, when an inspection will be made of the present outlet, and the effect it has on the drainage of lands adjacent to Maketu.
