The Peking Government, reports the correspondent of the Philadelphia Ledger, has issued a statement declaring that it regrets that the results obtained at the Washington Conference were not up to the expectations of the Chinese people, but taking into consideration China's position for several years and the presentday mediation by friendly Powers, also the assistance of various people in China, the Foreign Office is glad of the opportunity to improve the situation thus offered to China.
