THE HAMILTON MEETING. CONCLUDING DAY'S RACING. UDIANT LIGHT WINS LEADING EVENT. The Hamilton Racing Club's Meeting was :oncluded at Claudelanda yesterday in fine woather. At one portion of the day tho heat ixperienoed was very oppressive, bat a cool jrcozo sprang up early in the afternoon, and tho situation waa greatly relieved thereby. Ihe special train from Auckland yeaterday waa not oiteiisivoly taxed, but this ia explained by reason of a large number who made the journey on Wednesday staying overnight at Hamilton Thore waa a large attendance, and it ifl estimated that the number present yeeterday was well up to that of a corresponding day in previous years. Tho maninjemoat 0 j the meoting was throughout moat satisfactory, and in this connection, the secretary, Mr. K H. O'Meara, is entitled to a word of warm praise. The 4th Battalion A.1.1t. Band, uncfer Lieut. Salter, rendered the mueical portion of tho programme. The judioial committee had two cases before them during tho meeting, both of which wore connected with events run on the opening day, and in which welf-known jockoys wore involved. R. Reed, the rider of Truthful in the Hamilton Cup, waa considered to have been in fault, and a 6ne of £10 was infi cted on him. T. Glover, rider of Prince Abbey in the Cambridge Handicap, was also hold to have infringed the rules, and he was fined £5, In each case, the riders concerned received a eevore caution from the chairman, Mr. G. Vcrcoe. Tho sum of £38,-249 was investod on the totalisator during the day, which represents a decrease of £15,719 on the amount handled on the corresponding day last year. The grand total for the meeting was £ 80,389. a decroase of £29,429 on last year's receipts, The Waika|o Handicap, whioh formed the leading event of the programme, brought out a field of seven Mr. w. G. Stead a filly Radiant Light ruling a warm favourite. The confidence reposed in Radiant Light's ability to win proved to be in every way justified, for 6ho scored decisively in the closing stage. The meeting opened on Wodnosday with a pronounced surprise, when Euphoria scpred a victory in the Trial Handicap, and a similar incident was connected with the couoludjng event—the Tauwhare Handicap—yesterday, when Pentagram silenced the oppo sition.
