MELBOURNE'S VISIT.
FAREWELL MESSAGE!}, GOOD WISHES EXCHANGED. [by TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. W«dc«sd»j. The Governor-General, Lord Jellicoe, to-day telegraphed to Rear-Admiral Dumaresq, commanding H.M.A.S. Melbourne, as follows 'At the moment your vessel is leaving New Zealand, I assure you of ihe great pleasure your visit has given myself and the Government and people of the Dominion. The presence of tho flagship of your Navy, and the example of officers and men in fine efficiency and disoipit#.. will be of great benefit in cementing the bonds uniting the Commonwealth and the Dominion. Warmest good wishes. Kia ora." The Rear-Admiral replied, thin kin; Lord Jellicoe heartily for his kind message, and expressing pleasure at the privilege granted himself and his command of visiting; the Dominion. He looked forward to seeing the New Zealand flagship in Australian waters and to another visit here in the future. To the Prime Minister ho telegraphed, stating how deeply the ship's company had enjoyed the privilege of visiting the Dominion, where they received mach kindness and hospitality. He earnestly hoped it might be possible for the New Zealand flagship to visit Australia at the first opportunity, where they would receive a hearty welcome from all in tie Australian fleet.
Mr. Massey replied:—"lt is a groat pleasure to the Government to know that yourself and the officers of the ship's company enjoyed your visit to the Dominion. His Excellency has already, transmitted the good wishes of tho Government to you,.j and if it i 6 posies in the future for our flagship to vi;\it Australia it will give the Government much pleasure to arrange accordingly. 1
