OUR ORPHAN CHILDREN.

Sir,—For many years past the people of this Dominion have been sending thousands of pounds to the support of Dr. Banardo's Homes in England. These homes are worthy of the support of our people, but in this province wo are being awakened to tho fact that the orphanages and children's homes at our own doors are languishing for the lack of funds. It has como as a painful surprise to many citizens to hear that these local institu lions are in desperate need of assistance. All the orphanages in our midst are crowded, and all have constantly to decline piteous appeals for admission. Charity begins at home. Is it not fair and reasonable to ask that the various Batiardo associations which exist all over this province should at least for this year consider the claims of destitute children in their own district? I do not wish to discourage the splendid onthusiasm of the Banardo associations, but I would earnestly suggest that these associations should throw themselves energetically into tho campaign which has been started to help the Protestant orphanages of tho Auckland province Children's Friend.
