PERSONAL ITEMS.

Dr. and Mrs. B. L. Marchant, of Wellington, are at the Grand Hotel Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Newbnrgb, of Christchurch, are at the Gnand Hotel. Mr. T. B. Ronald Watson, who is at present supplying ' the Marton Presbyterian pulpit, was one of tho padres attached to the Otago Battalion during the war. Mr. Howard Smith, of the Howard Smith Paper Company, and Mr. Wainwrisht, of the Canadian Provincial Paper Mills, will arrive from Vancouver by the Niagara to-morrow. Mr. E. H. Little was last evening appointed as representative of the Pr\onport Borough Council on the Marine Boroughs Association, in succession to Mr. J Woodal!. The counril's dripgates are Mr. fl S \Y. king and Mr. S. W. Luxford. Dr. A. W.. Averill, Anglican Bishop of Auckland, expects to leave for Welling, ton on Sunday evening to attend a meeting of bishops and a meeting of tho Standing Committee of the O-eneral Synod. He anticipates being absent from the city for about a week.
